Procedural Steps: Post-Op & Recovery

  1. Although most patients return home the same day, you may stay in the hospital overnight. This will be worked out with your doctor as a part of your post-operative plan in advance. At home, you will need assistance for the first 24 hours.
  2. Possible side effects, including swelling, bruising, numbness, bleeding and pain may persist for up to 8 weeks and can be managed with medication. Antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent infection.
  3. Depending on the specific procedure, you may be required to wear pressure bandages around the treated areas for 2 weeks.
  4. You should be able to resume normal light activities after 1 week. Complete return to full physical activity may take 1-3 weeks. Call your doctor if you have any questions or if problems persist between consultations.
