Selecting Your Physician

Choosing the right physician for your procedure is a critical part of your experience. Open and honest communication between you and your physician regarding your goals and concerns is essential — your physician and the staff at the facility will serve as your guide at all times during the experience.

Personal recommendations can be useful, but it is important to do your own research before making a decision about your physician. Ideally, the physician that you select should be an experienced cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon or experienced in fat grafting.

During your consultation or prior to the procedure, your doctor should make sure you undergo the appropriate evaluations before performing the procedure. You should also receive appropriate consent forms or instructions on pre- and post-operative care in advance of the surgery.

Additionally, the medical facility and the other health care professionals (such as an anesthesiologist) who will play a role in the procedure should be fully accredited and licensed.
