In a 10-person trial set to being in May, Professor Kefah Mokebel will study the use of fat and stem cells to naturally augment healthy breasts. He believes that this natural augmentation could present a considerable improvement over traditional implants, as the new tissue will have the same feel as the breast without the risk of leakage or scarring. The procedure is currently being studied in breast cancer patients who have undergone partial mastectomies. In addition, a cosmetic breast augmentation trial is underway in Japan.
